Ik ben gelopen / Ik heb gelopen



A: "Ik ben naar Haarlem gelopen."
B: "O ja? Dan heb je bijna twintig kilometer gelopen."
A: "Het duurde anderhalf uur."
B: "Dan heb je wel hard gelopen."

(A: "I walked to Haarlem."
B: "Oh yeah? Then you walked almost 20 kilometers."
A: "It took one and a half hours."
B: "Then you have been running.")

Verbs of motion use the verb "zijn" (to be) as auxiliary verb in the perfect tense if the location is mentioned. In all other cases, the verb "hebben" (to have) is used.
